Successful applicants

Congratulations – you have been awarded a bursary from Official Sports London! Wondering what to do next? Just follow the steps below, and remember you can always Contact us if you need any help along the way. You could also check our Frequently Asked Questions and see if we’ve already answered your question.

Step 1- Return your Grant Agreement

The very first thing to do is return your signed Grant Agreement – you need to do this right away so that we know that you have accepted the offer of a bursary from Official Sports London.

Your Grant pack will include two pages labeled "Agreement for Grant relating to the Official Sports London Programme". You should sign one of these pages and post it back to us in the envelope labelled ‘Grant Agreement’. You should keep the second copy for your own personal records.

Step 2- Book a course

Next you need to book a place on a course with your National Governing Body. You should try to reserve a place on a course as soon as you can – remember you can travel outside London if that’s where your course is taking place. If you will need more funding to do this, Contact us to let us know.

To see our most up to date course calendar click here.

If your course is not included on the calendar, remember to keep in touch with your National Governing Body contact so that you can find out about the next available course. Click here to find your National Governing Body’s contact details . If you are having difficulty contacting your NGB and booking yourself onto a course, please Contact us and we will try to help.

Already completed your course? Make any purchases and payments you need to make and go straight to step four!

Step 3- Attend course and make necessary purchases

Remember to bring along your NGB Receipt Form (you’ll find it in your Grant Pack) for your course tutor or organiser to sign. This will prove that you have attended and paid for your course. You should also purchase any equipment or uniform you need, and pay any registration, license or membership fees that are necessary for your qualification. Make sure to keep receipts for all your purchases.

Step 4- Submit claim

Now that you have completed your course and bought everything you need, you can claim your bursary. All you need to do is complete your bank details form (so we know who to pay) and your claim form (so we know how much to pay you) and send these back along with your completed NGB Receipt Form, and receipts for any uniform or equipment you purchased and license, membership or registration fees you have paid.

Once we receive these items, we will pay your bursary directly into your bank account. Remember, you’ll receive costs for your 15 hours officiating upfront, so you don’t need to wait until your 15 hours are done before you claim your bursary.

Step 5- Complete 15 hours of officiating

You're nearly there! You’ve now completed your course and received your bursary payment. All you need to do now is get out and officiate! Remember, we need you to complete at least 15 hours officiating to meet the terms of your Grant Agreement. You will need to keep a record of your officiating experiences on the 15 Hour Log you received in your Grant Pack. Remember to bring this along whenever you officiate and return it to us in the envelope labeled '15 Hour Log'.

If you are having trouble finding opportunities to complete your 15 hours experience, you should contact your National Governing Body. Their contact details are here. You could also contact your Local Authority Sports Development Team. Contact us if you need help with this.

Step 6 – Final Step!

Now that you have completed your course, made your claim and returned your 15 hour log – congratulations, you’re finished! We hope you enjoyed your training, and that you continue to develop as an official.
